Background: 1960 to 1967

The peaceful activism of the late sixties and early seventies was not a spontaneous occurrence. Instead, the earlier involvement of many students in the Civil Rights Movement alongside Tallahassee African Americans inspired it. In spite of this demonstration of the presence of a liberalist ideology at FSU, the school's conservative administration continued to enforce strict rules and regulations.
